The HGI’s core mission is to translate Broadband Service Providers’ (BSPs) near and mid-term service plans into published requirements for home network equipment and technologies The HGI addresses the home gateway and all the digital home building blocks: the hardware and software in the digital home that connect consumers and services. By agreeing common requirements among the BSPs and the supporting ecosystem vendors, the HGI helps to consolidate the understanding of what is needed, brings additional vendors into the ecosystem, and speeds the evolution from services concept to deployment reality.
