2.0 Objectives

The goals of the Home Gateway and Network Architectures working group are:

to define the HW/SW architecture and requirements for a cost effective, flexible, future-proof Home Gateway supporting advanced multiple play services (e.g. Internet surfing, multimedia entertainment, fixed-mobile convergence, advanced communication services, home control).

to define the main security functionalities required in the home gateway, devices and in the home network to reliably support the services.
to define common requirements for home networks architectures enabling end-to-end delivery and consumption of multiple play services from inside as well as outside the house.
to analyze the impact of devices, services and applications coexistence on the home networking and the home gateway requirements.

4.1 in 2006, Gateway WG and Network Architecture WG merged to create a new group (keeping HGW as acronym) called Home Gaterway and Network Architectures
