PT Inovação is the branch for Research and Development (R&D) in telecommunications within the Group Portugal Telecom (PT). Fully owned and operated by PT and headquartered in Aveiro this organisation also operates regional poles in Oporto and Lisbon. A subsidiary company has also been established in São Paulo, Brazil.

PT Inovação holds competence in applied research, technology integration, services and solutions development, telecommunications engineering and training services. Major products include systems and solutions for Intelligent Networks (next generation/convergence approach), Access Networks, Multimedia and IP Solutions, Mobile Networks, Services and Platforms, Business Intelligence, Network Management, IT Systems and Software Engineering as well as Telecommunications business processes.

PT Inovação relies on a workforce of over 400, most of whom are engineers with average of 37 years old.

PT Inovação has implemented and maintains a Quality Management System that complies with the ISO 9001:2000 standards. With a deep environmental awareness PT Inovação is currently following procedures aiming at the ISO 14001 environmental standards certification.
