To rapidly specify a low cost, high capability end-to-end multi-service residential system providing communication tools for the home environment based on a gateway between access networks and residential devices.
To rapidly gain a high profile and build credibility through obvious commitment of major players with declared aim to take as a basis the work undertaken within existing bodies such as DSL Forum, Digital Living Network Alliance, Standards Institutes, OSGi Alliance, and to submit them back its own results.
The goals are realized through the open international collaboration of all interested parties, on reasonable terms applied uniformly and openly. HGI will contribute the results of its activities to appropriate formal standards bodies if applicable.

The business of HGI shall not be conducted for the financial profits of its Members but for their mutual benefits through expediting of related technology and standards.

Discussions about sales levels, methods, channels of distribution, markets, customers, prices or profitability or any other topic which would restrict use of technologies are prohibited.
